BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 2, 2006--In an effort to equip newspaper management with more timely and accurate data for decision making, the St. Paul Pioneer Press has upgraded its single copy delivery and reporting system to Single Copy Edition by Syncronex, a field service automation software developer from Bellevue, Washington.

Before the solution, St. Paul Pioneer Press contractors used paper manifests to record deliveries, adjustments and returns, and the paper had no idea where papers were being sold or if the correct number of papers were delivered to each location. By replacing paper manifests with Syncronex, the goal is to increase business intelligence, reduce error margins, and increase circulation by more accurately predicting sales per location.
With Single Copy Edition, contractors electronically enter adjustments and returns for each location via a web-based application and management stays more informed than ever. At the end of each shift, data is synchronized with the paper's circulation system for accurate and timely billing. And at any time, managers can track sales, analyze returns, see trends and map audits using one secure, web-based solution.
"Web access is substantially increasing our productivity," said Lenore Siemsen, Technology Support Services Manager at the paper. "We can now quickly access realistic snapshots of sales data online and on demand."
In addition to the standard Single Copy solution, the paper implemented Syncronex's optional and completely configurable forecasting tool, which makes it easy to analyze previous sales and specific locations and forecast how draw adjustments could affect business.
"With the history the Syncronex system will provide us," said Siemsen, "We can analyze data in a way we've never been able to and make better business decisions."
The Syncronex forecasting functionality improves productivity by determining the correct amount of papers for each location. In turn, the paper receives more accurate and timelier sales data and independent contractors are aided in making more money.
"The application is easy and straightforward to use," said Siemsen. "And Syncronex has been a great company to work with -- responsive to our needs, quick to turn around both ideas and solutions. They've always been available, from the beginning when we were just fact-finding all the way through our go-live period."
In response, Syncronex president Mike Pirello confirmed, "The management team at St. Paul did an excellent job preparing for the Single Copy rollout -- additional effort that is moving them quickly toward realizing their return on investment".
