Las Vegas’ First Successful Newspaper Continues Its Legacy of Innovation with Bellevue-based Syncronex Software Solution

April 19, 2007

The Las Vegas Review-Journal announced today it is using Syncronex Dispatch Edition—the field service automation software solution created specifically for the publishing industry by Syncronex, based in Bellevue, Washington—to improve customer service and reduce operating expenses.

“Re-delivery of missed or damaged papers was an expensive and inefficient process,” says Steve Coffeen, Circulation Director for the newspaper, owned by Stephens Media Group based in Las Vegas. “One of the main reasons we looked to Syncronex was that we wanted to know when our redeliveries were made, in real-time, automatically.”

Syncronex Dispatch Edition is a browser-based dispatching software solution that improves communication between a newspaper and its delivery personnel. Employees and contractors in the field who deliver newspapers can receive, access, and update route and delivery information in real time using web-enabled mobile phones. Dispatch Edition equips newspapers with two-way communication via one hand-held device that links directly to an online dashboard where managers can monitor progress or stay in touch with the field from the office or home, from the road, or on the go.

“No one else offers the round-trip functionality that Syncronex provides,” stated Mr. Coffeen. “Our drivers enter data from the field, and our PBS circulation system is updated in real time, providing a time savings that translates into increased productivity and faster decision making. Our return on investment was quicker than we anticipated, with the system paying for itself within six months.”

“Utilizing Dispatch Edition with Nextel mobile phones, The Review-Journal has reduced operating expenses while improving the customer experience,” stated Syncronex president Mike Pirello. “The solution allows papers to respond more quickly to customer complaints and know what’s happening in the field in real-time. We integrate with PBS, so redelivery times can easily be updated and stored on the customer service screen of the PBS application.”
